‘Somebody is dead here.’ – 911 calls from Colts Neck murder released
Authorities have released 911 and police dispatch calls related to the murder of a Colts Neck family last month.
A neighbor of the Caneiro family was one of the first to call 911 after he noticed a fire at the Willow Brook Road home.
“I opened the door…and there’s smoke coming out and there is a person laying down,” the caller said.
That was the body of Keith Caneiro. Authorities would later find the bodies of Keith’s wife Jennifer and their two children.
As the phone call continues, the dispatcher asks the caller to check on the person lying in the front yard, and that’s when a gruesome discovery is made.
“Oh my God. There is blood here. It’s a corpse,” the caller said. “Somebody is dead here.”
Keith Caneiro's brother, Paul Caneiro, has been charged with the killings. Prosecutors say that Paul Caneiro shot his brother and stabbed the other family members. They say that he then set fire to the home in order to cover up the crime.
Paul Caneiro pleaded not guilty to the crimes last week.
