Long Islanders woke up to several inches of snowfall in some parts of the Island, making for wet and slushy roadways Sunday morning.

News 12 meteorologists say last night's storm brought about 2-5 inches of wet, slushy snow to northern portions of Nassau and northwestern Suffolk. The South Shore saw lesser amounts of 1-3 inches, where there was more mixing with rain.

But the sunny skies by noon Sunday were quickly melting the snow across much of the Island. Some residents were still out brushing off their cars and clearing slush from their driveways.

The LIRR sent out a tweet alerting riders to snow on some platforms, and advising them to take their time while boarding.

News 12 meteorologists say temperatures will drop tonight into the low-30s, which could potentially lead to some refreezing on wet roadways ahead of the Monday morning commute.

But get ready for some weather whiplash -- we could be seeing temperatures reach the 60s by midweek.
