Some tenants in Throgs Neck say they are confused by the recent sexual misconduct allegations against longtime state Sen. Jeff Klein.
A former staffer accused the Democratic lawmaker of forcibly kissing her outside an Albany bar in 2015.
On Friday, women voters and community leaders called for a "third-party investigation" into the alleged incident, something Klein tells News 12 he is not opposed to.
They say Klein has been a positive influence, especially for the youth.
"Children are beginning to look at politics in a positive note," says Lehra Brooks.
Klein asked Loeb & Loeb law firm to do an investigation into the allegations.
Lawyers say they interviewed more than 10 members of Klein's present and former staff, mailing a memo to the Independent Democratic Conference that says in part, "It defies both reason and credibility to suggest Sen. Klein would have, in full view of both his longtime girlfriend, numerous staff members, and in the middle of a very visible and public street, assaulted the former staffer, as her allegation suggests."
