The production of a new Showtime series in Fordham has become a major inconvenience for some residents.
The network's new miniseries, "Escape at Dannemora," is being filmed on East 190th Street. Residents say they lost their parking spots when the prodcution crew took over surrounding blocks on Tuesday. Massive trailers could be seen taking up nearly the entire street.
There are now signs up that say no parking, but residents claim they were given no prior notification that the show would be filming in their area.
One resident says more than 100 cars have been displaced. There's a parking lot across the street, but residents say it's unfair for them to have to shell out for it.
The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment says production companies are encouraged to give at least 48 hours advanced notice, but in this case, production had to switch its schedule at the last minute. The office says residents won't face penalties for not moving their cars.
"Escape at Dannemora" is based on the 2015 escape from an upstate New York prison and the ensuing manhunt.
