PATCHOGUE - The Long Island soldier who had his Patchogue home burglarized and torched returned home recently after serving a tour in Africa.
Sgt. Eric Carver was deployed when officials say Harry Fleishman burglarized Carver’s home and burned it just days after Christmas.
After the fire, Carver’s neighbor, 10-year-old Thomas Roach, sprung to the rescue, donating his Christmas money and organizing bake sales and donation drives to help Carver rebuild. In all, more than $10,000 has been raised.
