Some Bronx seniors living in the Randall-Balcom Houses say they are petrified to go through another winter without heat.

Rosa Vargas, a resident who moved from a building on Schley Avenue three years ago because of heat issues, now says she is facing the same problem in her new apartment a block over at 2700 Randall Ave.

Vargas says it's a never-ending cycle. The maintenance team will come to inspect, but since she uses space heaters, the temperature taken inside is high, so they’ll have to return when the heaters are off.

Vargas says she's terrified of catching pneumonia inside her own apartment.

On Tuesday, Vargas told the maintenance crew that News 12 was on its way and she received a call from NYCHA about an hour after her interview.

News 12 has been told by NYCHA that a leak was reported at the building Wednesday afternoon, which interrupted service for five hours, adding that heat and hot water are back on. When staff checked temperature of apartments, it ranged between 72 and 77 degrees.
