The new $100 million Statue of Liberty Museum is officially open for business.

The centerpiece of the museum is a glass-enclosed atrium bed that houses the original torch that the statue held until it was refurbished in the 1980s.
There are three new theaters with 180-degree screens, exhibits on the museum's construction, and symbolism throughout history and interactive displays.
The old museum was located in the statues’ pedestal. Visitors needed a special pass to access the pedestal in the crown -- about a six-month wait, meaning only about 20 percent of the four million visitors to Liberty Island ever set foot in the old museum.
The new museum is free and accessible to anyone who buys a ferry ticket to the island.
