TUESDAY, SEPT. 22

4 p.m. - Pope arrives at Joint Base Andrews, is greeted by President Obama and the first lady

5 p.m. - Papal motorcade arrives at Apostolic Nunciature
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 23

8:45 a.m. - White House ceremony and concert begin

9 a.m. - President Obama and the first lady walk to meet the pope

9 a.m. ~11 a.m. - Ceremony, parade

11:30 a.m. - Pope arrives St. Matthew's Cathedral.

12 p.m. - Prayer service with U.S. bishops; homilitic discourse; instrumental and choir music.

12:30 p.m. - Pope greets cardinals in sanctuary.

12:45 p.m. - Leaves St. Matthews for Nunciature.

3:50 p.m. - Parade en route to Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Popemobile makes circuit through crowd of ~18,000 spectators.

4:15 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. - Mass at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 24

9 a.m. - Pope departs Nunciature for U.S. Capitol.

9:25 a.m. - Pope meets with House Speaker John Boehner in Speaker's Ceremonial Office.

10 a.m. - 10:35 a.m. - Pope enters House Chamber, addresses Joint Meeting of Congress.

10:45 a.m. - Pope visits Junipero Serra statue, Statuary Hall. Dedicates special bible to Library of Congress in Great Rotunda.

10:50 a.m. - Pope waves to assemblage on West Front Lawn from Speaker's Balcony.

11 a.m. - Pope departs for St. Patrick's Church.

11:15 a.m. - Pope enters church, greets clients of Catholic Charities: poor, those who have used mental health and medical clinics, immigrants. Pope blesses Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

11:35 a.m. - Pope blesses chapel at Catholic Charities.

11:40 a.m. - Pope attends Catholic Charities feeding event with 200 people who have meals there regularly.

12 p.m. - Pope departs for Nunciature.

3:45 p.m. - Motorcade arrives at Joint Base Andrews; possible VIP farewell.

4 p.m. - Pope departs from Joint Base Andrews.

5 p.m. - Pope arrives at JFK Airport in New York, to be greeted by Bishop DiMarzio and 200 persons. No remarks planned.

5:15 p.m. - Pope departs via Chopper.

5:55 p.m. - Pope arrives at downtown heliport; greeted by Cardinal Dolan. Motorcade begins toward St. Patrick's Cathedral.

6:45 p.m. - Pope arrives at St. Patrick's Cathedral. To be greeted by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Msgr. Robert Ritchie, rector, plus 500 persons outside.

7 p.m. - Vespers service. Prayers and remarks in Spanish.

7:45 p.m. - Departs St. Patrick's; closed motorcade to residence of Papal Nuncio.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 25

8:30 a.m. - Arrives at United Nations

10:20 a.m. - General Assembly address in English and Spanish

11 a.m. - Departs U.N.

11:30 - Arrives at Ground Zero. Pope and Cardinal Dolan pray at Reflecting Pool. Pope meets with small group of families and first responders.

11:45 a.m. - Pope enters Foundation Hall for spiritual, "multi-religious" event with 500-600 people.

12:30 p.m. - Ceremony ends; Pope departs for Nunciature via closed motorcade.

4 p.m. - Pope arrives at Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem. Meets with students and principal.

4:35 p.m. - Pope enters gymnasium; Meeting of Immigrants; gifts presented to Pope. Scripture reading, prayers.

5:05 p.m. - Pope departs school via closed motorcade

5:30 p.m. - Pope arrives at Madison Square Garden; audience of 20,000

6:30 p.m. - Mass; homily in Spanish

8 p.m. - Pope departs MSG for Nuncio
SATURDAY, SEPT. 26

8:30 a.m. - Arrives at JFK Airport for departure

8:45 a.m. - Departs JFK Airport for Philadelphia

9:30 a.m. - Arrives at Philadelphia Int'l Airport; small ceremony - no remarks.

9:45 a.m. - Departs via closed motorcade for Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

10:15 - Arrives at Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, accompanied by Archbishop Charles Chaput.

10:30 a.m. - Mass; 1,200-person capacity; homily in English and Spanish.

12 p.m. - Mass concludes, Pope greets ill and handicapped, briefly greets overflow crowd in adjacent Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

12:30 p.m. - Departs via closed motorcade to seminary.

1 p.m. - Fr. Lombardi briefing - Pennsylvania Convention Center

4 p.m. - Open Popemobile motorcade to Independence Mall and Independence National Historic Park.

4:45 p.m. - Arrives at Independence Hall. Pope will speak about religious freedom and immigration before a crowd of about 40,000.

5:30 - Departs via closed motorcade.

7 p.m. - Arrives at Festival of Families at Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

7:05 p.m. - Pope does circuit through crowd in area near stage in Popemobile.

7:30 p.m. - Arrives on stage; 1,000,000 expected at this venue. Pope interacts with various elements of program, which includes testimony by families, music, dancing. Pope gives formal remarks in English and Spanish.

9 p.m. - Departs backstage via closed motorcade to St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.


SUNDAY, SEPT. 27

9:15 a.m. - Seminarians greet the pope as he arrives at St. Martin of Tours Chapel. Meets with crowd of 300 bishops who have been participating in the World Meeting of Families.

10:15 a.m. - Pope departs chapel.

11 a.m. - Pope arrives at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. Pope visits with 100 prisoners, all 18-21 years old, in facility gym. Event will be transmitted internally to other ~3,000 inmates. Pope will deliver formal remarks in English and Spanish, and then will speak with some inmates, their families and correctional officers.

12 p.m. - Pope departs correctional facility for seminary.

12:30 p.m. - Fr. Lombardi Briefing - Convention Center.

3:25 p.m. - Pope begins open motorcade to Mass site; same location as previous night's Festival of Families.

4 p.m. - Mass begins; 1,500,000 attendees expected. Pope gives remarks in English and Spanish.

6:15 p.m. - Mass concludes.

7 p.m. - Pope arrives at Atlantic Aviation Hangar. Expresses gratitude to leaders, volunteers, supporters. Private meeting with VP Joe Biden and possible Biden family members.

7:45 p.m. - Farewell ceremony.

8 p.m. - Wheels up as Pope departs for Rome.
