BETHPAGE - The John McMahon Jr. Memorial Roller Hockey Club played in honor of a teammate tonight after he was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident on New Year's Eve.

Ryan McCarthy, 16, of West Islip, was allegedly hit by Kristofer Busching and spent two weeks in a coma. Doctors say he still has a long way to go to recover.

Teammates decided to help McCarthy by holding a game to raise money for his medical expenses.

“We wanted to help them out in any way we could because we know they would help us," said teammate Matt Tatarian.
