MANHATTAN - Some Long Islanders will be bundling up and heading to Manhattan tonight to watch the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

The 80-foot Norway spruce, from New Jersey, endured Hurricane Sandy's 70 mph winds to make it to tonight's big event.

For the past two weeks, workers have been covering the enormous tree with 30,000 lights.

Greenlawn native Mariah Carey will join Rod Stewart and Tony Bennett in the star-studded show leading up to the lighting just before 9 p.m.
