Road Trip Close to Home: Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at Brooklyn Museum

News 12 visited the Brooklyn Museum for a first look at exhibits in the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art. The center is dedicated to the study and exhibition of nart and is the only museum center of its kind in the country.
Through the doors of the center for Feminist Art is the work of artist Baseera Khan with "I am an Archive." Khan is the first South Asian Muslim female to have a solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. In the exhibit, Khan uses colors and different materials to express the human body as a weapon against imperialism and patriarchy.
The exhibit debuted in October of 2021. Khan is a recent recipient of the UOVO Prize, which recognizes the work of emerging Brooklyn artists.
The struggles, accomplishments and perseverance of women and the feminist movement are also showcased at Judy Chicago's exhibition, "The Dinner Party." The plate settings tell a narrative of 39 notable women. It is a permanent installation.
Khan's "I am an Archive" runs from now to July 10 at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center.
