Riverhead School District calls for more state funding
The Riverhead School District is rallying to demand what it calls its fair share of foundation aid from the state.
School officials say their district is facing a financial crisis. They say enrollment rates and poverty levels are both rising, and their schools are in dire need of funding.
The Riverhead School District is one of five districts in New York state dubbed the Harmed Suburban Five. Those districts receive the lowest state aid in New York.
