A Riverhead police officer was injured in a head-on collision during a chase in Jamesport last night. Police say officer Charles Schneider was trying to stop Edward Ferger's van on Herricks Lane when Ferger crossed into oncoming traffic and plowed into Schneider?'s patrol car at Sound Avenue and Manor Lane.The officer was taken to the hospital in stable condition.Ferger has been charged with drunken driving.
