Reward offered in killings of 2 cats found on lawn
Police say two feral cats were tortured, killed and then left on the front lawn of the East Patchogue family that had cared for them.
Debbie Claudio says she had cared for a kitten she named Brave that was no more than 8 weeks old. On Saturday morning, she found the kitten had been sliced in two and left in front of her home.
When her son went to dispose of Brave's remains, he found a second cat, named Amigo, also dead on the lawn. Suffolk SPCA investigators say Amigo suffered blunt-force trauma and was also cut in two.
"Why would you do that to an innocent little animal?" said Claudio. "I don't understand."
The person responsible for the killings would face felony animal cruelty charges. Anyone with information is urged to call the SPCA at 631-382-7722.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers, the Suffolk SPCA and the New York Humane Society are each offering rewards totaling $8,000 for information that leads to the culprit.
