Pizza on Long Island is some of the world’s best, and some Long Islanders proved Saturday they can put down slices with speed.

Joe’s Pizza in Holbrook hosted its ninth annual Pizza Eating Contest, where participants had 10 minutes to eat as many slices as they could.

This year, returning champion Adam Ruttowski, of Bay Shore, entered the pizzadome and came out victorious again. He was able to eat nine slices. Last year, he was able to scarf down 10.

He told News 12 that he would be back next year to defend the title.

"As long as I can do it, I'm going to do it," he said.
