A new report shows that the Long Island Rail Road's on-time performance slipped in 2014.
The LIRR's monthly operating report for December found that 92 percent of their 245,000 trains were on time in 2014. That's down from 93.5 percent in 2013.
The report shows that most delays were caused by public incidents, which include factors like large crowds on busy days and trespassers on the tracks.
A spokesperson tells News 12 that on-time performance is the LIRR's top priority after safety.
The spokesperson also says that there are many factors that impact on-time performance, including bad weather and equipment breakdowns.
News 12 is told that LIRR officials will be announcing a new plan to cut down on delays and raise on-time performance during a meeting on Tuesday.
