Tenants in rent-stabilized apartments in the Bronx and the rest of the city will have to pay a little more starting Monday. The rent hike approved earlier in the year is now in effect. The Rent Guidelines Board increased rents by 3 percent for one-year leases and 5.3 percent for two-year leases.Tenants protested the hike in June, claiming their incomes are going down and wouldn't be able to afford an increase. Landlords defended the rent hike, saying operating costs are rising and that the increase was necessary.
