Heavy nighttime snow marked the second day of spring on Long Island this year, and although road conditions deteriorated as the sun went down, the power mostly stayed on and many Long Islanders shrugged it off.
To keep the power on, PSEG Long Island crews deployed late Wednesday night to handle any outages as the fourth nor'easter in a month continued to slam the Island.
Although early on only a handful of outages were reported, the storm was expected to continue well into Thursday morning.
So long as the power remained on, other Long Islanders said they had a plan for the storm.
"I'm going to hang out with my family," one Long Islander said. "Maybe do some Netflix, chill."
PSEG LI said it prepared for the nor'easter by checking its system ahead of the storm and bringing in additional contractors and tree crews.
"We have our entire organization mobilized," PSEG LI Vice President John O'Connell told News 12 early Wednesday. "We are here to support our customers."
O'Connell said worker morale is high despite the rash of nor'easters this month.
"This is what we do…Our employees understand the importance of the service we provide. When something like this comes along, we are ready."
Earlier in the day, Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared that some utility companies in the state could improve their storm responses.
He reminded them how after Superstorm Sandy he moved to have LIPA replaced by PSEG LI -- declaring that a utility company's role is not guaranteed.
To report an outage, call 1-800-490-0075 or text the word "OUT" to PSEGLI if you've already pre-registered.
