The East End saw the worst of Tuesday's nor'easter, as well as the most power outages and perhaps the toughest cleanup.

PSEG says it brought in 112 linemen from Quebec to help battle a number of power outages. The storm damage forced the closure of Dune Road, and PSEG crews worked alongside contractors to repair primary electric wires along a 10-mile stretch.

The Twin Forks saw a starkly different storm than Nassau County.

The western Long Island Expressway saw light snowfall, plenty of blacktop and smooth rides.

Nearing Westhampton Beach and Quogue, heavy, wet snow blanketed the area. High winds knocked down at least five utility poles, and 1,700 residents lost power.

"Thank God we have a generator," said Billy Cataldo, whose Quogue home lost electricity.

Southampton Village saw 16 inches of snow. Officials there deployed 50 plows to try and keep up with the storm -- and they struggled. Driving conditions got so bad that Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman declared a state of emergency and asked motorists to stay off the roads.

PSEG said crews would be working through the night to repair power lines.
