Reports of an active shooter at High Point Adolescence School in Marlboro are false, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say that they are investigating the reports as a “swatting incident.” Swatting is when someone makes a false report to 911 in an attempt to get a large police presence to converge on an area.

News 12 New Jersey received several calls from concerned parents and members of the public who reported heavily armed members of law enforcement in the area.

Marlboro police say that Marlboro Memorial Middle School was put on lockdown as a precaution while the school was searched. No weapons were found.

“All students are safe. No threat to the public,” the prosecutor wrote on Twitter.

Anyone who may have information about the false call is asked to contact the police.
