Some Edison postal workers were out in the community Tuesday in an effort to raise awareness about protecting letter carriers from dog attacks.
The postal workers said that the entire community can work together to avoid the cost and pain of dog bites.
“Every day we are at every house in America…Sometimes [people] get complacent and the dog will be left in the yard because it’s a beautiful day or the front door is wide open or the screen door is not locked,” said New Jersey letter carrier Daniel Szucs.
Postal officials said that homeowners should keep track of their pets as much as they can to protect postal employees.
More than 150 letter carriers were attacked by dogs in New Jersey last year, according to the U.S. Postal Service.
