Poll: Gov. Cuomo enjoys 60 percent job approval rating among NY voters
The latest Siena College poll shows Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a 60 percent job approval rating.
While the poll suggests immense support among voters, his numbers are actually down 6 points from the previous poll.
The poll also showed an almost even split when voters were asked specifically about Cuomo's job performance. A total of 51 percent rated it as "fair" or "poor" while 48 percent said he was doing a "good" or "excellent" job. Siena pollster Steven Greenberg says the results were in line with an unusual trend that they found.
"Every elected official, politician and institution that Siena College asked about in this month's poll took a hit in their favorability ratings," says Greenberg. "The public was a little bit sour on them this month and took it out on all of them."
As for re-election, the Siena poll suggests that Gov. Cuomo has overwhelming support. The poll has him crushing two potential Republican candidates, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Donald Trump, by 40 points.
The highest favorability rating Gov. Cuomo has received as governor was 77 percent two months after taking office in 2011.
