A woman was killed in Patchogue early Christmas morning walking to midnight Mass.

Police say 70-year-old Barbara Rizzi was hit outside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on North Ocean Avenue just after midnight.

Officials say Rizzi was crossing North Ocean Avenue when a 2016 Nissan sedan driving north struck her.

She was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, 20-year-old Samantha Reyes, was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.
