A Shirley man who was shot and crashed into a pole has died, police say.

They say it happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on the William Floyd Parkway.

Police say 32-year-old Daniel Johnston was heading south before the incident.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a gunshot wound to the victim's leg.

Johnston was pronounced dead at the hospital.
