Police: Selden man, 8 others arrested in Hauppauge, Bronx heroin raids
Police say there have been two massive heroin busts and nine people, including one Long Islander, are facing charges.
The DEA, NYPD and state police announced the arrests after raids in the Bronx and Hauppauge.
Officials say a Queens trucking company owner and truck driver planned to transport 33 pounds of heroin from California to Hauppauge.
Prosecutors say once the heroin was in California, Jeen Blake, of Selden, drove a tractor-trailer to the West Coast to pick it up and drive it all the way back to Long Island. Prosecutors say the Good Guys Transport truck is owned by Dorian Cabrera, of Queens. They say it had a secret compartment to stash the drugs.
The heroin seized in Hauppauge was formed into the shape of the sole of a shoe. Federal authorities say it was done to get the drugs over the border from Mexico to California.
Cabrera and Blake were arrested in a parking lot on Old Willets Path in Hauppauge. Prosecutors say Blake had driven the truck there and Cabrera was meeting him to transfer the drugs to his personal car.
Agents say they recovered more than $300,000 in cash from Cabrera and Blake.
Seven other people arrested were allegedly connected to a Bronx operation. Officials say a raid yielded 22 pounds of heroin Wednesday. Authorities say an apartment was set up like a factory with workers cutting and repacking heroin.
