Stratford police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to abduct a 12-year-old boy as he was walking home from school Wednesday on Barnum Terrance.
The 12-year-old told his parents that while walking home from Franklin Elementary School, a man got out of his silver BMW and tried to grab him. The boy ran away from the scene.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his late 30s or 40s, around 5-foot-6-inches, with a black goatee, black hair and balding.
The school’s superintendent said that the boy did the right thing by running away.
“If you don't feel safe, if you don't feel comfortable, get out of the situation," said Jamie Rivera, sergeant of the Stratford police.
The superintendent of the school has encouraged parents to tell their kids to run and scream if they're approached, and to walk home in groups whenever possible.
