Police: Pedestrian hit twice, dragged
A woman is in critical condition after two cars hit her as she crossed Third Avenue early Sunday morning.
Police say the victim was hit by a first car heading north on Third Avenue near East 140th Street and knocked her into southbound traffic, where a second car, a minivan, hit her and dragged her. It?s unclear how far the minivan dragged the woman.
The driver of the minivan fled the scene, but turned himself in later to authorities, police say. The 20-year-old driver is now facing charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Police haven?t identified the first car or its driver. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-800-577-TIPS.
