Officers were placed at Central High School Wednesday after police say the school was threatened in a Snapchat post.
Police say they were made aware of the threat on Tuesday night when a concerned citizen called police to tell them about the post that allegedly  claimed that somebody was going to shoot everyone at school.
Police say they worked early Wednesday to place extra officers at the school.
Scott Appleby, director of the Office of Emergency Management, issued a statement saying, "The Bridgeport Police Department is aware of the threat that has been disseminated on social media. The Bridgeport police in collaboration with the superintendent and the Office of Emergency Management have implemented their emergency protocols at this time to ensure the continual safety of the students, staff and community in and around Central High School."
Police say several agencies were notified of the threat immediately and there is a police presence at the school as a precaution.
Police say they have no information other than the Snapchat post to suggest that an incident could occur today.
Officials say their investigation did not produce any information to suggest that the threat was legitimate legitimate or specific to Bridgeport. They say the school was never on lockdown and classes continued as usual.
Police ask anyone with information to the threat contact the Bridgeport Police Department at 203-576-TIPS.
