Police: Man with 35 license suspensions unleashes pit bull on officers

Police say a traffic stop ended with a dog being shot and a Mastic Beach man under arrest.
According to police, an officer tried to stop an SUV on Wednesday morning, but the driver, Anthony Johnson, refused to pull over. He continued driving to his house on Woodland Drive in Mastic Beach.
Police say the 58-year-old got out of his vehicle, threatened the officer with a metal pipe and released his pit bull mix from the backyard.
An officer then shot the dog, who did survive.
Police say Johnson’s license had been suspended 35 times.
