A Westport man is being accused of assaulting two police officers after being confronted for defecating on the sidewalk, News 12 Connecticut is told.
News 12 has obtained exclusive video of the man whom police say was walking the streets in only his underwear and defecating on the sidewalk by Winslow Park Friday morning around 10:30 a.m.
Officers say they found the man after responding to reports of his whereabouts at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Church Lane. They say he was holding a box with a dead raccoon in it.
They say the man struck one of the officers when approached by police.
In an ensuing struggle with police, he then allegedly bit another officer.
A witness tells News 12 that the police told the man to get into the car, but he did not and instead swung at the officer.
Police say the suspect and two officers were taken to Norwalk Hospital.
Officials say the man is expected to be charged with three counts of assaulting public safety personnel and breach of peace.
