Nassau police say they made the largest counterfeiting busts in the county's history.
Guosheng Hu, of Bayside, Queens, is accused of having more than $1 million in counterfeit goods at a commercial warehouse on Rushmore Street in Westbury.
While serving an eviction warrant for failure to pay rent, police say they found industrial embroidery machines, boxes of clothes and brand-name labels including North Face, Under Armour and UGG Australia. More than 3,000 boxes of goods were seized, in total.
Police say the company would bring in the clothing from overseas and use four large, high-speed embroidery machines to sew on the logos. Acting Nassau Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter says about 16 million items were processed through the machines.
Police say the 42-year-old Hu would bring women from Queens to work at the factory.
Prosecutors say Hu is charged with felony counterfeiting and is due back in court Tuesday. More charges are expected to be filed against him.
