Police: Jeffrey Starzee arrested for 3rd-degree sexual assault

SHELTER ISLAND - Police have arrested a Shelter Island man for alleged sexual abuse of young girl.
Authorities say 47-year-old Jeffrey Starzee was taken into custody for sexually assaulting a girl under 17 years of age. He faces charges of sexual abuse in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Sources tell News 12 Long Island he is a Shelter Island town highway employee.

Starzee was released on bail this morning.
