The state attorney general is now investigating after an Inwood man died following an alleged struggle with Nassau police.

Investigators were called to a home on Doughty Boulevard Saturday.

News 12 is told they found Walter Perez inside. They say he was drunk, naked, bloody and acting violently. 

Police say when the 36-year-old threatened cops with a "dangerous instrument," they were forced to use a Taser gun on him twice. They say the Tasers had no effect on Perez, but they were eventually able to subdue and handcuff him.

Officials say Perez stopped breathing after he was handcuffed. Officers removed the cuffs and attempted to revive him, but he later died at the hospital, police say.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The attorney general's office is investigating because the death followed a confrontation with police.
