The husband and wife who died in a murder-suicide Monday in Port Jefferson while their 6-year-old son was home have been identified by Suffolk police.

Police say Alexander Astashkevich shot and killed his estranged wife Olga Sadikova and then shot himself. Police say Astashkevich called police after shooting Sadikova and then his son got on the phone to say his mom was dead. The boy, who is now in the custody of Suffolk County Child Protective Services, was then instructed by the 911 operator to hide in the bathroom and lock the door.

The boy told police that his parents sometimes fought, but police still don't know exactly what led to Monday's murder. Police say there were no prior calls to the home and there were no orders of protection against the husband.
