State police have identified the man who was killed by an apparent gunshot wound Friday morning on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.

State police have identified the man who was killed by an apparent gunshot wound Friday morning on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.
Police say the victim was 43-year-old Mtundo Vanterpool. They say he resided on the reservation but was not a member.
Police are now asking for information on the location of 42-year-old Michael Gaines in connection to the case. They say they believe Gaines has information regarding the investigation. Gaines also lives on the reservation but is not a member, according to police.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 fast-cash reward for information within 72 hours that leads to an arrest in connection with the homicide, according to police. The number to call is 1-800-220-TIPS.
State police add that tips can be called into them at 631-756-3300.
