Police have identified four relatives found fatally shot early Wednesday inside a Brownsville apartment in the Riverdale Towers.
Police say they received a call around 5 a.m. from a 53-year-old woman who lives in the Thatford Avenue apartment and was returning home.
The deceased have been identified as 57-year-old Loyd "Big Daddy" Drain Jr.; his 16-year-old son Loyd Drain III; 27-year-old Terrance Briggs; and Briggs' 1-year-old daughter Laylay Briggs. Friends say the woman who returned home to find the bodies is Drain Jr.'s wife and the 1-year-old's grandmother.
Police arrived at the scene to find the victims shot to death mostly in separate rooms, although Briggs and his daughter were together.
Officials say a gun, bullets and shell casings were found inside the apartment.
Police say their investigation is leading them to believe the shooting was likely a murder-suicide. There was no word on who may have pulled the trigger.
Neighbors say Drain Jr. would frequently have community barbecues with his son, who's described as hardworking and whose ultimate goal was to attend college and make his parents proud.
The 1-year-old's mother attended a vigil for the deceased Wednesday evening but was not interesting in speaking on camera.
