Police say that gunfire erupted at the Shinnecock Indian Powow Saturday night.

State police say troopers heard gunshots around 8 p.m. at the tribe's reservation near Southampton.

Troopers say they found a Mastic man fighting with another attendee nearby.

They say the 23-year-old fired a shot, another man grabbed the gun and another shot was fired as they fought.

The second man took the gun and ran off.

The 23-year-old was charged with weapon possession.
