Police find human remains in car pulled from Salem River
New Jersey State Police say that human remains were found in a car pulled out of the Salem River.
Police say that divers from Walker Diving Underwater Construction Company were removing debris from the base of the Salem River in Salem City on Thursday afternoon when they found the submerged car near West Broadway Road. The divers saw human remains inside the car.
Investigators arrived at the scene, pulled the car from the water and found the remains of an adult victim, according to police.
Authorities did not say if the victim was the driver of the vehicle or victim of a crime.
An autopsy is expected to be performed to determine the cause of death.
