Police: Drunk mom hit and kills teen on bike
A Hampton Bays teen hit by a suspected drunken driver was taken off life support Thursday night, hours after the crash left him brain dead.
Authorities say 15-year-old Joseph Marino was riding his bike Wednesday night when Caroline Goss, a nurse from Mattituck, hit him with her car. Police say she was driving with her 6-year-old son and had an open container of alcohol in the car.
Goss was charged with driving while intoxicated. Driving records show she was previously convicted of DWI in 2003.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says a grand jury is looking at the possibility of upgrading the charges.
