Police: Copiague bar shut down; 6 arrested on various charges
A man found with a loaded gun was one of several problems police say they came across at a Copiague bar that they shut down Saturday night.
Police say a total of six people were arrested during a state liquor authority inspection at the Signal 8 Saloon on Montauk Highway.
Ronaldo Guzman II, 38, a customer, is accused of being a cocaine dealer. Investigators say he had drugs, brass knuckles and a loaded gun.
The five other customers were arrested on various drug and weapon possession charges.
The bartender was taken into custody as well, charged with serving an intoxicated person and operating a disorderly establishment.
Signal 8 owner Craig Delmarco claims he had no idea anything illegal was happening at his bar.
"You try to run a good business in town, but you can't control ... you don't know every person who walks through the door, so unfortunately these things happen once in a while," says Delmarco.
Some neighbors say they are happy to hear the bar was closed down. One person says she has seen several fights at or near Signal 8 in the past.
Police say they uncovered 15 code violations at the bar. As a result, the bar was shut down and condemned.
