A child is recovering in the hospital after nearly drowning in the Town of Woodbury.

Police say the incident occurred at a home on Jones Drive.

Police say the child was initially taken to Garnett Health Medical Center, where emergency room staff were able to restore their heartbeat.

The child is in stable, but critical condition and was flown to Westchester Medical Center, according to authorities.
