Police: Man’s body found near Glen Cove nature preserve

Glen Cove police say a man's body was discovered near a popular nature preserve early Thursday morning, prompting an investigation.
The body was found at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Hempstead Harbor, close to the Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove.
While police have not yet identified the deceased person, they believe the man to be in his 30s.
Investigators have stated that there is no indication at this time that the death is criminal in nature.
However, the discovery has raised concerns among nearby residents.
Neighbors in the area mentioned hearing a helicopter overhead late last night, which authorities revealed was part of the search for a missing person.
The unsettling nature of the discovery has left many in the community uneasy.
“I’ve been here a little more than 12 years, and I’ve never heard anything like this. So it’s kind of scary,” said Luz Maldonado, a resident of Glen Cove.
