Three people are in custody in connection to a series of suspected synthetic marijuana overdoses in Bed-Stuy.

Police say more than a dozen people were reportedly sick after having a bad reaction to K2, or synthetic marijuana, this weekend.

They say the users were found near Broadway and Myrtle Avenue just outside Big Boy Deli Saturday night.

Elected officials say even though K2 is illegal, it can be bought easily on the streets. The law that is in place now says that business owners selling K2 can lose their license to sell cigarettes.

Some of the charges made in connection with the K2 overdoses include possession of untaxed cigarettes, failing to report sales tax and criminal possession of a weapon for having a knife.

Local leaders like Brooklyn Councilman Robert Cornegy are now calling for an NYPD task force dedicated to the issue.

"We need to make those resources available because our communities are being disproportionately affected by this," Cornegy said.

Police have also issued search warrants for at least two delis in the neighborhood after the overdoses.
