Police say a 27-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy were killed in a crash in Westbury yesterday.
Authorities say the accident happened at about 11:55 a.m. on Old Country Road near Merchants Concourse in Westbury.
Detectives say a 27-year-old male driver appeared to suffer a medical emergency, veered abruptly and struck a tree. He suffered multiple injuries and is listed in serious but stable condition.
The driver's two passengers, a 27-year-old woman and a 4-year-old boy, were taken to a hospital with multiple traumatic injuries. They were pronounced dead a short time later.
Old Country Road was closed eastbound between Zeckendorf Boulevard and East Gate Boulevard for several hours, but has since reopened.
Police have not yet released the victims' identities.
