Southampton police say a 20-year-old man was charged with reckless driving and assault in a head-on crash on Dune Road Friday.
They say the crash happened on Dune Road near Road K at around 7:30 p.m.
Police say they arrived to find one car on fire, and the 81-year-old driver of the other car, a 2018 Mercedes-Benz, was trapped.
They say Mark Criollo, of Hampton Bays, is accused of driving at a high rate of speed in a 2020 Mercedes-Benz with passenger 20-year-old Jonathan Medina-Guanga when he collided with the other Mercedes. That vehicle was driven by Barbara Reich, of Boca Raton, and contained passenger 20-year-old Rebecca Reich.
Police say both Barbara Reich and Criollo were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via the Suffolk County Aviation Unit. They say Barbara Reich has very serious injuries.
Criollo is being charged with reckless driving and second-degree assault.
