Police are searching for two men responsible for the shooting of a Glen Cove man during a home invasion.
The 22-year-old victim was shot in the chest inside his Eldridge Place home Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was able to run outside, but collapsed on a nearby street. He is hospitalized in serious condition.
Police say there were workers doing renovations in the home at the time, but they were not hurt. They were told to get on the ground and not look up.
Police say they have evidence that the victim knew his attackers. They also confirmed that the home has been the subject of multiple drug complaints in the past.
Neighbors say the house where the shooting happened has been a problem before.
State Assemblyman Charles Lavine brought up the shooting at a meeting he'd planned to speak about policy and ethics in Albany.
Lavine says that too many guns are smuggled into New York and called on his fellow lawmakers to increase the penalty for committing a crime with an illegal firearm.
