A survivor of the Parkland school massacre talked with Long Island students ahead of the March For Our Lives rallies.
Isabella Italiano and several classmates from Massapequa High School are gearing up for Saturday’s March For Our Lives rally. They have a special guest joining them: Gywneth Bishara, a Massapequa native and Parkland survivor.
Bishara is upset that Massapequa school officials gave in-school suspensions to students who took part in the recent National Walkout Day. She made a special trip to Massapequa to show support for the students.
Bishara says also she met with Massapequa school officials. While they did not discuss the suspension issue, Bishara says the talk made a difference in terms of paving the way for students to make their voices heard.

“The next walkout date will be April 20, which is the anniversary of the Columbine shooting, and they're gonna walk out, and they’re gonna have it planned and organized, and the whole school will be walking out,” says Bishara. “They're also creating a program for these students to get together and voice their opinions to help make a change in the school.”
Meanwhile, about 40 students from Massapequa High School are planning to participate in the March For Our Lives Rally in Manhattan Saturday. It is one of about 800 sister marches in cities around the world in support of the main march in Washington, D.C. About 1 million worldwide are expected to take part.
