Thousands of daffodils were on display at Reeves Reed Arboretum in Summit Sunday.
Hundreds attended Daffodil Day to see the flowers and to enjoy live entertainment, a petting zoo and spring-themed games and crafts.
Daffodils were planted in the area more than 100 years ago.
Jackie Kondel, director of education at the arboretum, says work to ensure the daffodils are ready for the event begins in the fall. Kondel says goats from the local petting zoo are actually used to help clear the area for the daffodils.
"It takes so much work to do it that a couple of years ago we decided why do all the work when we could be more environmentally friendly and bring the goats in to do it," Kondel said.
Kondel says the cool weather was actually good because it made sure the daffodils didn't bloom too early.
Upcoming events for the Reeves Reed Arboretum include free public garden tours starting the weekend of May 11.
Elsewhere in the Garden State, runners also hit the road for a good cause as the Habitat for Humanity held a Rainbow Fun Run 5K in Branchburg.
Participants ran around White Oak Park, all while having non-toxic colored powder thrown on them.
