Officials: 1 dead, 10 displaced following New Haven fire

After receiving a call from someone passing by, firefighters found heavy smoke on the second and third floors.

One man has died following an early morning house fire in New Haven.
It happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Elm Street.
After receiving a call from someone passing by, firefighters found heavy smoke on the second and third floors.
An unresponsive man was also found, and firefighters performed CPR. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. His identify has not been released.
New Haven police say 10 people have been displaced. A firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries. State police are investigating the incident.
