A Bronx woman accused of targeting grieving families pleaded not guilty to felony charges out of Greenwich Monday.

Latonia Stewart, known as "the obituary burglar," allegedly targeted her victims by trolling the obituaries. She has additional pending cases, alleging the same tactic, in Westchester County.

Court documents detail what police are calling an especially cruel form of burglary.

According to the documents, a Greenwich woman returned from her late husband's wake in October of 2017 to find her home in the Pemberwick neighborhood burglarized.

An estimated $75,000 worth of jewelry was stolen, including gifts from her spouse.

Five months later, jewelry and cash totaling almost $100,000 were taken from a home in the Glenville area while a widow and her children were at a funeral.

Greenwich police have been working with law enforcement in Westchester County, where Stewart was arrested and first charged last year.

Court documents also show a search of Stewart's home in the Bronx turned up jewelry stolen from Greenwich. Cellphone records also placed her in town at the time of the crimes, which police say traumatized the victims.

Stewart has opted for a jury trial.
